OCTOBER

HOME FIRE SAFETY with Marv Baker, Safety Advisor. The NFPA states that reasonable fire protection can be achieved by taking 3 steps. As we age, we become more forgetful so we create more fire hazards. We move slower so our egress time is increased and we are more easily overcome by products of combustion. Our hearing is not as sharp so being alerted to a fire is more difficult. Added to the above, the government of Alberta states in their fire report that over a 10-year period, the death per fire was decreased by 6% in homes with smoke detectors versus those that had none. This is a statistic for the general population; seniors of course are more at risk. Attend this information session to learn how to protect your home from fire.  Wednesday, October 23 at 10:30 am. Pre-register for this free information session by calling 780-459-0433 ext 0 or visiting the Centre between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm.
